Japanese Noodle Soup

Bowl of Ramen

The history of ramen can be traced back to China, whose food culture was introduced to Japan around the 1860s. This was around the time Japan opened its ports after its national isolation. As Chinese immigrants settled in the port of Yokohoma, they established their noodle making & cooking style which eventually evolved and assimilated into the unique Japanese style famously known as "ramen."

It was Momofuku Ando's (1910 - 2007) invention in 1958 that created instant noodles and put them on the global map. Instant noodles consists of pre-cooked, dried noodles with separate seasoning to complement the flavour and type of noodles.

Today, ramen is globally known for its experimental combination of soup flavour, noodle type & texture and various toppings which can be made at home with the help of an instant noodle pack or it can follow a gourmet recipe using handmade noodles.
